Sodium picosulfate is a laxative. It increases the movement of the intestines and facilitates the passage of stools. It is mainly used to treat constipation or prepare the large bowel surgery. It helps in emptying the intestines.

Sodium Picosulfate Dosage

Adult: 5-10 mg as a single dose, usually at bedtime.

Child: 1 month to < 4 years – 0.25 mg/kg. Maximum: 5 mg;

4-10 years- 2.5-5 mg;

over 10 years – 5-10 mg. It may take 6 to 12 hours for this medicine to start working. The dosage is usually given at night. Avoid taking a Sodium Picosulfate0 for more than 1 week. Take it as per doctor’s advice.

Sodium Picosulfate Side Effects
