It works by decreasing the production of glucose in the liver, delaying the absorption of sugar (glucose) from the intestines, and increasing the body’s sensitivity to insulin.
It is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. Especially in people who are overweight. It helps in controlling the blood sugar level and thus prevents serious complications of diabetes. It is also used to treat Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) menstrual disorder in women.
